Lone Worker Physical Restraint & Resolution
This course is aimed at lone workers who may have to face and deal with aggressive or threatening behavior in the workplace. By the end of the course, the delegates will be provided with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills to break free from a potential physical assault.
Duration: 6 hour physical based course
Training methods: Based in a classroom/gymnasium using the principles of adult learning and the EDIP Principle (Explain, demonstrate, imitate and practice) and developmental coaching.
Course objectives
- Examples of appropriate actions that can be used to deal with conflict situations
- Relevant force legislation will be discussed and the medical implications of these techniques identified
- Explain the importance of 360° awareness, positioning and movement
- Demonstrate balance displacement techniques
- Demonstrate basic breakaway techniques
- Apply new skills into training scenario's
- Recognize the importance of post incident procedures

- Defensive blocking skills
- Techniques against grabs (wrist, clothing and hair)
- Techniques against strangles (front and rear)
