Press Release: 20th January 2005 "Peoplesafe Service Launched"

How do you keep your people safe?

ALERT – LISTEN – LOCATE - RESPOND

Sheffield based Rocksure Ltd is announcing the launch of Peoplesafe – a new personal safety alert system for the immediate assistance and location tracking of individuals exposed to dangerous or threatening situations; such as lone workers, independent shop workers, field based workers, VIP executives and other individuals. It has been designed to offer higher levels of assurance and security than existing lone worker protection devices.Using its Alert – Listen – Locate and Respond functions, Rocksure’s MD Ian Johannessen believes Peoplesafe will become one of the most effective systems for the protection of employees and individuals.

ALERT

Doubling up as an ID card, Peoplesafe can be worn either visibly or discreetly to allow the user easy reach of its soft touch emergency button on the reverse of the card holder. When depressed for two seconds the button raises an alarm. The alarm signal is transmitted via a mobile phone network to an alarm receiving centre (ARC), operating 24/7.There is no audible sound from the card itself, which ensures that a discreet call is made.

Through thoughtful design the Peoplesafe system offers three routes to send an alarm:

  1. By depressing the emergency button on the reverse of the device for two seconds.
  2. By the simple of action of the lanyard becoming detached from the device – e.g. by being pulled off.
  3. By the user failing to make contact with the office or ARC at an appointed time.

LISTEN

The Peoplesafe system has a built-in microphone which digitally records the conversation or sounds made immediately following an alert. This assists the ARC in determining the nature or severity of the alert to take the appropriate action to assist the user.In addition, the digital sound recordings made can be used at a later date as evidence of the attack. This is particularly useful in situations of verbal abuse, for example towards independent retailers.

LOCATE

The mobile phone network enables the ARC to determine the coordinates and location of the user. Peoplesafe is invaluable for locating users in large field sites, for long haul drivers or even individuals taken in kidnap or hostage situations. The mobile phone network offers 99.9 percent coverage across the UK.

RESPOND

Unlike most panic alarms that are located in fixed positions, the Peoplesafe is completely mobile, so the user can wear it and feel protected wherever they are.Field based workers such as estate agents can leave a short message on the device, giving their whereabouts and the expected duration of the meeting. If the user fails to re establish contact by the time they have agreed to do so, the alarm will be raised with the company to try and establish contact with their colleague and take further action thereafter.

Based on the requirements of the individual or organisations using Peoplesafe, there are several methods to respond to an alarm alert and the ARC will have a predetermined plan of action to follow through. For example, this could be to contact police immediately, to call the organisations in-house security department or a colleague, to contact a family member or to follow some other emergency plan.

The Peoplesafe service is available on license over a 24 month subscription period.Further details about this and how the system works are available at www.peoplesafe.co.uk.To request a brochure please call Rocksure on Tel: 01909 560 912.

Rocksure is establishing a network of resellers for the Peoplesafe system and is asking all interested parties to contact the company for further information on Tel: 01909 560 912.
